गणाधीशं नमस्कृत्य वाग्देवीं च गुरुं तथा।
पर्णालग्रहणाख्यानं श्रीशिवाख्यस्य वर्ण्यते।।

gaṇādhīśaṃ namaskṛtya vāgdevīṃ ca guruṃ tathā।
parṇālagrahaṇākhyānaṃ śrīśivākhyasya varṇyate।।

गणाधीशम् नमस्-कृत्य वाग्देवीम् च गुरुम् तथा पर्णालग्रहण-आख्यानम् श्री-शिव-आख्यस्य वर्ण्यते।
  • गणाधीशम् = Ganapati (Acc.) 
  • नमस्-कृत्य = Having saluted
  • वाग्देवीम्च =Sarasvati
  • गुरुम् = Guru or Teacher
  • तथा = and so
  • पर्णालग्रहण-आख्यानम्=Story of the Conquest of Panhala
  • श्री-शिव-आख्यस्य=of/belonging to the Story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj
  • वर्ण्यते=is explained/elucidated
Having saluted Ganapati, Sarasvati and the teacher, the story of the capture of Panhala belonging to the larger story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be elucidated

तत्सर्वं श्रोतुमिच्छामि भवन्तः कवयः खलु। कविरुवाच - मया द्वादशभाषाभिः कविकर्म विरच्यते।। तत् = That सर्वम् = everything श्रोतुम् = to hear इच्छामि = i want भवन्तः = all of you कवयः = poets खलु = indeed कविः = the poet उवाच = said मया = by me द्वादश-भाषाभिः = by 12-languages कविकर्म = kavikarma विरच्यते = is composed I want to hear everything and all of you are poets right?.  The poet said - I composed Kavikarma 12 languages
