पर्णालग्रहणाऽऽख्यानम्

तदग्रे प्राहिणोत्तूर्णं सचिवं पण्डितैः सह।  ततस्तैरेव सहितः प्रविवेश सभान्तरे।।  tadagre prāhiṇottūrṇaṃ sacivaṃ paṇḍitaiḥ saha। tatastaireva sahitaḥ praviveśa sabhāntare।। तत् = then अग्रे = next प्राहिणोत् = forsook/dismissed/sent(past sing 3rd person of प्र-हिनोति)  तूर्णम्  = quickly सचिवम् = minister पण्डितैः सह = with the preceptors ततः = therefore तैः = with them एव = indeed सहितः=with प्रविवेश = entered (conj. of प्र-विशति) सभा-अन्तरे = inside the assembly And next (the King) sent the minister quickly with the preceptors. Then included with them indeed he entered the assembly.  

आयान्ति गजमारुह्य जयरामकवीश्वराः। ससम्भ्रमं ततो राजा हर्षोत्फुल्लविलोचनः।। āyānti gajamāruhya jayarāmakavīśvarāḥ। sasambhramaṃ tato rājā harṣotphullavilocanaḥ।। आयान्ति = Arrives (plural) गजम् = the elephant आरुह्य = having got on जयराम-कवि-ईश्वराः = Lord of poets Jayarama (referred to in plural as a mark of respect) ससम्भ्रमम् = with agitation/excitement ततः = Therefore राजा = The King हर्ष-उत्फुल्ल-विलोचनः = having happy-flourished-sight The great poet Jayarama arrives having seated on the elephant. Thus the King who has a happy, flourishing view is excited.

निवेदितेन लोकानां निवहेन नमस्कृतः। अत्रान्तरे समागत्य द्वाःस्थेनेत्थं निवेदितम्।। niveditena lokānāṃ nivahena namaskṛtaḥ। atrāntare samāgatya dvāḥsthenetthaṃ niveditam।। निवेदितेन=by the informed लोकानाम्=of the worlds निवहेन=by the killing/quantity नमस्कृतः=saluted अत्रान्तरे=meanwhile समागत्य=having come द्वाःस्थेन=by the door-keeper इत्थम्=thus निवेदितम्=informed Saluted by the informed multitude of the worlds. Having come in the meanwhile, informed thus by the door keeper.

कृपाकटाक्षदृष्ट्यासौ जनः स्वामिन् विलोक्यताम्। रौप्यवेत्रधरैरित्थं नामग्रहणपूर्वकम्॥ कृपा-कटाक्ष-दृष्ट्या = grace-glance-with sight अ सौ = This जनः = person स्वामिन् = O Lord विलोक्यताम् = to be seen रौप्य-वेत्र धरैः = silvery-by doorkeepers इत्थम् = Thus, so नामग्रहण- पूर्वक म् = rememberance of name - according to/with/after O Lord, This person is the be viewed with grace, with the remembrance of the name by keepers of silvery doors

नटनर्तकमुख्यैश्च यथास्थाननिवेशितैः। सभायाः पूर्वभागार्धवेदिकासु स्थितैः स्तुतः॥ naṭanartakamukhyaiśca yathāsthānaniveśitaiḥ। sabhāyāḥ pūrvabhāgārdhavedikāsu sthitaiḥ stutaḥ॥ नट-नर्तक-मुख्यैः = acting-dance-with/by the grandees यथास्थान-निवेशितैः = right place-with/by the placed सभायाः = of the assembly पूर्व-भाग-अर्ध-वेदिकासु = eastern-part-half-in/on the stages स्थितैः = with/by the situated ones स्तुतः = glorified/praised Glorified by grandees of dance and acting placed in the right place, the stages placed in the eastern half of the assembly.

भृत्यहस्तस्थितैर्हृष्टस्तालव्यजनवीजितः। गायकैर्वाद्यनिपुणैर्बन्दिभिः स्तुतिपाठकैः।। bhṛtyahastasthitairhṛṣṭastālavyajanavījitaḥ। gāyakairvādyanipuṇairbandibhiḥ stutipāṭhakaiḥ।। भृत्य-हस्त-स्थितैः = with the servants-hands-situated-things हृष्टः = rejoiced/delighted ताल-व्यजन-वीजितः = rhythm-fan-cooled गायकैः = by singers वाद्य-निपुणैः = by experts in instruments बन्दिभिः = by heralds स्तुति-पाठकैः = by praise-readers/panegyrist Cooled by rhythmic fans in the hands of servants and delighted by singers, by expert musicians, by heralds, by panegyrists  

केयूरहारविलसन्मुद्रिकाभिरलङ्कृतः। सौवर्णबिन्दुललितैः प्रोल्लसद्विविधायुधैः।। keyūrahāravilasanmudrikābhiralaṅkṛtaḥ। sauvarṇabindulalitaiḥ prollasadvividhāyudhaiḥ।। केयूर-हार-विलसत्-मुद्रिकाभिः = with armlet-necklace-shining-seals अलङ्कृतः = decorated सौवर्ण-बिन्दु-ललितैः = with golden-drops-necklaces  प्रोल्लसत्-विविध-आयुधैः = with moving-"to and fro"-different-weapons Decorated With armlets necklaces and shining seals, with golden coloured necklaces and with differing weapons moving to and fro.

प्रस्फुरद्रत्नविद्योतवल्गितोत्तंसमण्डितः। मुक्तामणिमयैर्दिव्यैः कुण्डलैः कङ्कणैस्तथा।। prasphuradratnavidyotavalgitottaṃsamaṇḍitaḥ। muktāmaṇimayairdivyaiḥ kuṇḍalaiḥ kaṅkaṇaistathā।। प्रस्फुरत्-रत्न-विद्योत-वल्गित-उत्तंस-मण्डितः मुक्ता-मणिमयैः दिव्यैः कुण्डलैः कङ्कणैः तथा प्रस्फुरत्-रत्न-विद्योत-वल्गित-उत्तंस-मण्डितः = shining-gem-lightning-moving to and fro-ornament-adorned मुक्ता-मणिमयैः = with the fillings of pearl and beads दिव्यैः = with the divine things कुण्डलैः = with the earrings कङ्कणैः = with bracelets Adorned with ornaments filled with gems shining lightning moving to and fro, with pearl and beads, with divine earrings and bracelets.

नानावितानसंमिश्रवस्त्रविस्तीर्णमण्डिते । सिंहासने स्वर्णदण्डछत्रचामरशोभितः ।। nānāvitānasaṃmiśravastravistīrṇamaṇḍite। siṃhāsane svarṇadaṇḍachatracāmaraśobhitaḥ।। नाना-वितान-संमिश्र-वस्त्र-विस्तीर्ण-मण्डिते सिंहासने स्वर्ण-दण्ड-छत्र-चामर-शोभितः नाना-वितान-संमिश्र-वस्त्र-विस्तीर्ण-मण्डिते = various-coverings-admixed-clothes-extended-adorned सिंहासने = on the throne स्वर्ण-दण्ड-छत्र-चामर-शोभितः = gold-stick-canopy-chowrie-adorned Adorned with a golden stick, a canopy and chowrie, on the throne with various coverings adorned with extended and admixtures of cloth.  

विस्तीर्णास्तरणे क्षौमचित्रकम्बलशोभिते। सौवर्णराजतैः स्तम्भैः पट्टसूत्रसुवेष्टितैः।। vistīrṇāstaraṇe kṣaumacitrakambalaśobhite। sauvarṇarājataiḥ stambhaiḥ paṭṭasūtrasuveṣṭitaiḥ।। विस्तीर्ण-आस्तरणे क्षौम-चित्र-कम्बल-शोभिते सौवर्ण-राजतैः स्तम्भैः पट्ट-सूत्र-सु-वेष्टितैः विस्तीर्ण-आस्तरणे = on a broad sheet क्षौम-चित्र-कम्बल-शोभिते = on something adorned with a linen embroidered blanket सौवर्ण-राजतैः = with gold colored and silver coloured things स्तम्भैः = with pillars  पट्ट-सूत्र-सु-वेष्टितैः = surrounded with strips, threads  On a broad sheet adorned with a linen embroidered blanket, with pillars covered in gold and silver and surrounded by strips and threads 

ज्योतिर्विद्भिर्षग्वर्यैः शूरैर्निस्त्रिशपाणिभिः। अन्यैरपि सभास्तारैर्दूतैर्देशान्तरागतैः।। jyotirvidbhirṣagvaryaiḥ śūrairnistriśapāṇibhiḥ। anyairapi sabhāstārairdūtairdeśāntarāgataiḥ।। ज्योतिर्विद्-भिषग्-वर्यैः शूरैः निस्त्रिश-पाणिभिः अन्यैः अपि सभास्तारैः दूतैः देशान्तर-आगतैः ज्योतिर्विद्-भिषग्-वर्यैः = with respected astrologers and doctors शूरैः = with heroes निस्त्रिश-पाणिभिः = having ruthless/active/untiring hands अन्यैः = with others अपि = also सभास्तारैः = with assistants at an assembly दूतैः = with messengers देशान्तर-आगतैः = come from across the nation With respected astrologers and doctors, heroes having untiring hands, and others also such as assistants at the assembly and messengers coming from across the nation.

स राजा राजकार्यार्थकुशलैः सचिवैः सह। कविभिः पण्डितैर्भाजत्सभ्याभरणभूषितः।। sa rājā rājakāryārthakuśalaiḥ sacivaiḥ saha। kavibhiḥ paṇḍitairbhrājatsabhyābharaṇabhūṣitaḥ।। सः राजा राज-कार्य-अर्थ-कुशलैः सचिवैः सह कविभिः पण्डितैः  भ्राजत्-सभ्य-आभरण-भूषितः। सः=He राजा=King राज-कार्य-अर्थ-कुशलैः=with those adept in the conduct of governance सचिवैः = with ministers सह = with कविभिः = with poets पण्डितैः  = with scholars भ्राजत्-सभ्य-आभरण-भूषितः=adorned with jewels of good, shining (human) company The King was adorned with the jewels of good, shining company with ministers adept in governance, poets and scholars.

आस्तेऽस्मिन्भूतले श्रीमान् एक एव महीपतिः। सर्वलक्षणसम्पन्नः शौर्यौदार्यगुणान्वितः।। āste'sminbhūtale śrīmān eka eva mahīpatiḥ। sarvalakṣaṇasampannaḥ śauryaudāryaguṇānvitaḥ।। आस्ते अस्मिन् भूतले श्रीमान् एकः एव महीपतिः सर्व-लक्षण-सम्पन्नः शौर्य-औदार्य-गुण-अन्वितः। आस्ते = exists अस्मिन् = on this भूतले = earth श्रीमान् = respected एकः = one एव = indeed महीपतिः = king सर्व-लक्षण-सम्पन्नः = endowed with all (good) qualities शौर्य-औदार्य-गुण-अन्वितः = filled with qualities of bravery and compassion  There exists on this earth  indeed  a respected king endowed with  all (good) qualities  filled with qualities of bravery and compassion.

तत्रातिप्रीतितः श्रोता वीरत्रयधुरन्धरः। निरूप्यते स एवादौ शृणुध्वमवधानतः।। tatrātiprītitaḥ śrotā vīratrayadhurandharaḥ। nirūpyate sa evādau śṛṇudhvamavadhānataḥ।। तत्र अति-प्रीतितः श्रोता वीर-त्रय-धुरन्धरः निरूप्यते सः एव आदौ शृणुध्वम् अवधानतः। तत्र = There अति-प्रीतितः = out of a lot of love श्रोता = the listener वीर-त्रय-धुरन्धरः = leader of three heroes निरूप्यते = is demonstrated सः = He एव = indeed  आदौ = initially शृणुध्वम् = You all should listen अवधानतः = with consideration There out of love the listener, the leader of three war heroes, he indeed is shown initially. You all should listen considerately.

गणाधीशं नमस्कृत्य वाग्देवीं च गुरुं तथा। पर्णालग्रहणाख्यानं श्रीशिवाख्यस्य वर्ण्यते।। gaṇādhīśaṃ namaskṛtya vāgdevīṃ ca guruṃ tathā । parṇālagrahaṇākhyānaṃ śrīśivākhyasya varṇyate ।। गणाधीशम् नमस्-कृत्य वाग्देवीम् च गुरुम् तथा पर्णालग्रहण-आख्यानम् श्री-शिव-आख्यस्य वर्ण्यते। गणाधीशम् = Ganapati (Acc.)  नमस्-कृत्य = Having saluted वाग्देवीम्च =Sarasvati गुरुम् = Guru or Teacher तथा = and so पर्णालग्रहण-आख्यानम्=Story of the Conquest of Panhala श्री-शिव-आख्यस्य=of/belonging to the Story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj वर्ण्यते=is explained/elucidated Having saluted Ganapati, Sarasvati and the teacher, the story of the capture of Panhala belonging to the larger story of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj will be elucidated
